Ashfield Students Promoting Positivity in Lockdown

During the first few weeks of lockdown, Nottinghamshire Police ran a competition to design a poster / song / poem to help people get through lockdown and stay positive. We are delighted to announce that two of our very own students have come in 1st and 2nd place!

The winner was Maisy Harrison (8BY3) who created the video which can be viewed on the school’s Facebook page, and which also featured her sister Millie in Year 12; she has promised to share her prize with her sister! Congratulations to them both.

The police were so impressed with the quality of the Ashfield entries that they ‘created’ a second place prize for Charlotte Boaler (9CH3), who wrote a fabulous song called Stay Safe which you can hear on the school’s website (lyrics below). Congratulations Charlotte!

Entries for the competition came from different schools across Nottinghamshire…with 40 out of the 50 from Ashfield! The police were overwhelmed with the diversity and quality created by our students. Well Done to all students who participated.

Stay Safe

Stay safe, you don’t need to panic buy,

Stay safe, you only need to go outside,

Stay safe, For one exercise a day.

Stay safe, you can FaceTime your friends,

Stay safe, you don’t need to meet up with them,

Stay safe, you will see them again at school,

After Covid-19.

Home-school is a nightmare,

I’m sure that parents think the same.

We need to calm down here,

Before we all go insane.

Stay safe, you don’t need to panic buy,

Stay safe, you only need to go outside,

Stay safe, For one exercise a day.

Stay safe, you can FaceTime your friends,

Stay safe, you don’t need to meet up with them,

Stay safe, you will see them again at school,

After Covid-19

Stay Safe!
