Knitting for Australia!

Ms Taylor and Miss Petch at Ashfield School were so moved by the plight of the wildlife in the Australian bushfires that they decided to do something about it. Galvanising the troops wasn’t difficult, as Uniformed Services students, their families and Post 16 staff were keen to pitch in knitting pouches for the injured and orphaned animals…but some of the students needed a knitting lesson first!

In addition, Magenta Trends in Annesley acted as a collection point and lots of local people dropped their pouches off there, and BBC Radio Nottingham also acted as a collection point following Miss Petch’s appeal on the Mark Dennison show.

The result was outstanding, with over 200 pouches already collected and ready to go, and further donations awaiting collection. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the team effort.
