Students start courses at leading universities after outstanding A level results

Top-performing students at Wilsthorpe School in Long Eaton, Derbyshire, are enjoying their first weeks at leading universities after securing places following outstanding A level results.

The secondary school and sixth form, rated Good by Ofsted and joining the Two Counties Trust in November, achieved excellent exam results with 30% of all A level grades at grade A* and A.

That included top grades for a number of students who as a result won places at elite Russell Group universities, including:

  • Izzy Holland, at Oxford University
  • Jasmine Brown, at Cambridge University
  • Eloise Stone, at Nottingham University
  • Adam Askam, at Leeds University
  • Liam Way, at Manchester University

Jonathan Crofts, Headteacher of Wilsthorpe School, said:

“We are always sad to see our students leave us – but it is more than consolation to know that they are continuing their studies at such esteemed universities.

“Wilsthorpe School has an absolute focus on the highest standards and our students, supported by their parents and our staff, fully deserve their success.

“As we move to become an academy and join the Two Counties Trust, we are looking to go even further in delivering a first-class education.”
